  • SUPERVISORY AND GRANT EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
  • 5 yrs. trg. or 5 yrs. exp. in position involving engineering or chemistry, physics, biology &/or other comparable science field &/or mathematics &/or history &/or archaeology (i.e., latter two subject areas pertain only to Department of Transportation) evaluating & approving complex engineering design plans, conducting most sensitive environmental surveillance activities &/or environmental pollution compliance monitoring inspections, investigating complex public health &/or environmental pollution problems, initiating complex enforcement actions, or assisting in planning, developing & maintaining specific environmental projects & programs; AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. as lead worker. What We Need YOU To Do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental supervisor in the Division of Surface Water (DSW) at our Central Office in Columbus, Ohio.

Let's dive right in!

As Ohio EPA's environmental supervisor, you'll supervise and coordinate activities within the Nonpoint Source Program. You'll work with federal, state, and local governments, and special interest groups to reduce water quality impacts from nonpoint sources across the state. You'll oversee the Section 319 program grant activities for Ohio, including the requests for proposals and the competitive selection process for pass-through funding. You will also work with the fiscal unit to oversee sub-grant accountability and efficiency, performing site visits and audits as necessary.

You'll supervise your staff, assigning projects, reviewing and evaluating employees' work, conducting staff meetings, and recommending candidates for hiring. You'll conduct employee evaluations and ensure they're properly trained in technical agency policy, and safety guidelines.

Additionally, you'll be responsible for Ohio's Nonpoint Source Management Plan and Nonpoint Source Annual Report. You'll also develop budgets, prepare periodic updates on Section activities, and develop the semi-annual and annual reports required by federally awarded grants. You'll provide technical assistance and guidance to the public, government agencies, and the regulated community, representing Ohio EPA in negotiations, meetings, hearings, and conferences.
