EHS Manager
Huntsman is seeking an EHS Manager supporting the Performance Products Division located in Freeport, Texas . This position will report to the Regional EHS Sr. Manager.
Job Scope
As a member of the Freeport Site Leadership Team, the position exists to directly be responsible for how Huntsman Performance Products, Freeport Site conducts its business in accordance with all corporate and regulatory policies, procedures, and acts of law regarding environment, health and safety; and that the company is effectively providing an environmentally sound, safe and healthy work environment for the employees of the Huntsman Performance Products, Freeport Site and the extended neighboring community.
In summary, as the EHS Manager, you will:
- Directs the activities of the site environmental, health and safety group to coordinate those efforts toward a common goal of providing an environmentally sound, safe and healthy work environment for the Huntsman Performance Products, Freeport Site employees, as well as neighboring community
- Directs the implementation of federal, state, and local governmental policies and regulations in matters of environmental, health and safety and assures compliance in all matters under his/her direction
- Administers Environmental, Health & Safety policies, evaluates work, and makes recommendations to Site Manager on hiring, promotions, salaries, and release of people under his/her direction
- Acts as an advisor to the Site Manager in all matters pertaining to environmental compliance, health and safety, including but not limited to legal matters
- Directs and coordinates activities of Huntsman Performance Products, Freport Sites medical needs including but not limited to medical surveillance, return-to-work authorization and new-hire onboarding
- In conjunction with managers of other site departments, assists the Site Manager in setting site policies, practices and procedures for operating the plant safely and compliantly to maximize profits
- Performs as an active and engaged leader on the Site Leadership Team driving towards improved EHS performance and site culture
- Responsible for the preparation and timely submission of the environmental, health and safety expenses, staffing, and capital budgets. Ensures that expenditures are appropriate and properly documented within budget
- Responsible for coordinating site security needs and emergency response efforts
Other general responsibilities:
- Follows instructions and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals
- Participates in and completes company-required training programs
- Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field with 7+ years of related work experience OR 10+ years of EHS experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Specific Skills and Knowledge
- Requires a broad knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations and laws governing chemical manufacturing facilities.
- Must have high technical and analytical abilities to identify environmental, health and safety trends and to act to meet these requirements with minimum disruption and expense
- Ability to coordinate the activities of environmental, occupational health, industrial hygiene and safety personnel in all matters pertaining to EHS compliance at the site.
- Requires tact and diplomacy in dealing with government representatives, media representatives, associates, and the public
- Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office programs
- Previous experience interacting local emergency responders (FD, Hazmat, etc.)
- Previous experience maintaining compliance with PSM/RMP regulated facilities
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Certifications in one or more applicable areas of environmental, health, and safety (i.e., CIH, REM, CSP) is a plus.
