Education / Work Experience

  • B.S. degree in Safety Management or an equivalent program
  • Minimum five year's experience working with industrial safety compliance in a management position

Background / Skills

  • Automotive background, with preference towards high volume assembly operations.
  • Strong understanding of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standard.
  • Familiar with NIOSH lifting equation and experience applying to repetitive motion processes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects on a simultaneous basis
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is essential
  • Intermediate skills in financial budgeting and accounting
  • Ability to interface at multiple levels and operate within cross functional teams is critical
  • Strong communication and time management skills are essential in this position

Special Training / Certificates

  • Required: OSHA Certification, NFPA 70e, LOTO and Trainer to teach others for compliance training (Confined Space, Emergency Response, Evacuation, Hazard Communication, others)
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Electrical Safety RIA 15.06 2012/ ANSI B11.19
  • Trained as a trainer to teach others for compliance training
  • Trained in auditing production areas for compliance with all standards listed above.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and implements organizational environmental and company safety programs to ensure safe, healthy, work environment. Responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations.
  • Facilitates, manages and tracks all required safety training programs including but not limited to Lock-Out/ Tag-Out (LOTO), NFPA 70e Arc Flash, Associate Orientation/ Base Training (Safety), Confined Space, Fall Protection, Emergency Response and Evacuation, Fire Extinguisher, Hot Work Permit, CPR/ First Aid, etc.
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in the correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Facilitates and manages safety auditing programs and safety evaluation of new or modified equipment.
  • Oversees the company fork lift/ industrial truck safety program.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Develops or provides input to hazardous material communications, including maintaining material safety data sheets (MSDS/ SDS).
  • Implements or recommends control measures for exposure to hazardous materials or conditions.
  • Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Interfaces and indirectly reports to Regional HSE management
  • Maintains OSHA 300 and 300 A logs.
  • Oversees the company First Responder program. Ensuring each First Responder is adequately trained and qualified for the program.
  • Develops and implements a program and system to track and evaluate worker injuries.
  • Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations.
  • Maintains workers' compensation files and records.
  • Monitors the company's health standards in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support departmental 6S activities.
  • Additional duties requested by Management
